The tanker was delivered from Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering Co. Ltd., Korea to Wilco Eco Tankers 2 AS in the beginning of August.

The sister ship, ECO LEADER, also 336 meters, was registered in NIS on 23 June this year.

- This is very positive and a solid addition to the fleet, says Mrs. Anita Malmedal, head of the Department of Ship Registration.

Upon registration of ECO FUTURE, the NIS now counts 565 ships and has experienced a net growth of 30 ships since the beginning of the year. Two additional ECO ships are scheduled for delivery and registration with Oslo as home port during this fall.

Managing director with AWILCO Technical Services AS, Mr. Claus Mørch, reports that the company believes that public opinion will demand more and more environmentally friendly ships in the years to come and that the development will force solutions in advance of IMO regulations. The environment will become increasingly important. Less consumption and less emission will be a competitive advantage to succeed in shipping.
