Please take note that the IMB Alert/Warning No.017 dated 16 Jan 2012 for possible hijack of vessel has been downgraded and returned to" normal". It may appear that the threat may have been neutralize due to the very aggressive patrols by all the Authorities. The Centre appreciate the increase in patrols by all countries concerned and particularly the coordination conducted by the Singapore IFC / Navy. There is a possibility that the threat may arise again in future which may not be detected in advance and therefore vessels are advise to continue to maintain strict anti piracy watches as for any successful hijack to take place in asian waters, pirates have to attack and board a vessel by surprise. All vessels are also advise to report all attacks and suspicious sightings to the IMB Piracy Reporting Centre. Without these officials reports, the Centre will face difficulties to request/pressure governments and Authorities to stop the menace and to increase patrols. Masters, Owners, Managers and Operators must cooperate and do their part for us to assist them positively and effectively. Wishing all vessels a safe voyage.
