ISPS / ISPS Notification

In order to direct the users on the subject of the regulations of June 22, 2004 number 972 concerning safety and terror, the Norwegian Maritime Directorate has developed a summary of important contact information in Norway. The correct place of contact refers to SOLAS, and EU regulation 725/2004.

The proper contact details are noted below. In this connection the directorate also would like to make reference to the list of management and responsibilities in the ISPS area.

Chinese Navy convoy (01.12.2009)

Chinese Navy is scheduled to carry out an eastbound convoy on December 02, 07, 13, 19, 25, 30 and a westbound convoy on December 04, 10, 16, 22, 27.

NIS/NOR registered vessels who replies for escort assistance from Russian naval vessels transiting the Gulf of Aden. (02.09.2009)

NIS/NOR vessels who applies for escort assistance from Russian Naval vessels while transiting the Gulf of Aden shall adress their application at last 72 hours before reaching meeting point to the federal state office:

Piracy activity in the southeast part of Somalia has increased substantially. It is reason to believe that this is due to the presence of naval forces in the Gulf of Aden and that parts of the piracy activity has been moved to areas further southeast in the Somalia basin and closer to the Seychelles.

Use of AIS in area of Somalia coast line and in the bay of Aden (04.11.2008)

With ref. to prior security warnings given for the area of Somalia and in the Bay of Aden, the Norwegian Maritime Directorate (NMD) hereby advices NIS/NOR ships to consider their use of AIS in the infected areas.

Raise of security level Somalia coast line (10.09.2008)

Raise of security level from level I to level II for the bay of Aden and closer than 300 nm from Somalia coast line.

As a supplement to the recommendations given in the security advice dated 27th of May 2008, NMD strongly recommends NIS/NOR flagged vessels to navigate through the corridor described below when transiting the Gulf of Aden.

Security advice for Somalia area (28.05.2008)

Due to several piracy and armed robbery attacks and attempted attacks outside Somalia coast line, the Norwegian administration has decided to announce a security warning for ships flying NIS and NOR flag, operating nearer than 250 nm. from Somalia coast line or in coastal waters of Somalia.

Security level II for coastal waters of Nigeria (20.12.2007)

Due to increasing number of piracy activity, stowaways, and other criminal activities, the Norwegian Administration has decided to raise security level from level I to security level II for all NIS/NOR registered ships operating in coastal waters of Nigeria.
